Focus on how to perform valuable administrative and clinical tasks in South College’s Medical Assisting certificate program. In our courses, you’ll study human anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical and lab procedures, medical terminology, pharmacology, and more. You’ll take online classes, as well as get practical hands-on training in our on-campus labs. You’ll also gain 180 hours of experience in a real medical facility through completion of a practicum.

After completing the certificate program, you may also continue for an additional 9-12 months to complete the Medical Assisting associate degree.

Certificate in Medical Assisting with a Concentration in Phlebotomy

In South College’s Medical Assisting Certificate program, you’ll explore how to perform clinical and lab procedures, assist practitioners with examining patients, and provide administrative support in healthcare offices. You’ll take online classes that cover human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, medical law and ethics, and more. You’ll also get practical hands-on medical assisting training in our campus labs and gain 180 hours of practicum experience in a real medical facility.

For the Phlebotomy concentration, you’ll take a course on collecting blood and non-blood specimens for lab analysis. The course content is designed to equip you with job-oriented skills and help prepare you for the national phlebotomy technician certification exam. After earning your certificate, you may continue for 9-12 more months to complete general education requirements and earn your Medical Assisting associate degree.
