Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant

Bachelor of Science in Health Science (Post PTA Degree)

Our Bachelor of Science in Health Science (Post PTA) program is designed for students who have completed a physical therapy assistant (PTA) associate degree and want to apply their credits from that program toward a bachelor’s degree. South College is one of few programs in the country to offer this option, which can save you a great deal of time and expense as you continue your education in physical therapy. In our Health Science (Post PTA) program, you’ll work to expand your knowledge in areas like biology, chemistry, physics, healthcare administration, human resource management, and health science leadership. By earning your bachelor’s degree, you may expand your opportunities for administrative and other roles as a PTA. It is also a key requirement if you wish to apply to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

Bachelor of Science in Health Science (Pre-Physical Therapy)

Are you interested in working in the physical therapy field and helping people regain their health and mobility? In our Bachelor of Science in Health Science (Pre-Physical Therapy) program, you’ll focus on developing the foundational knowledge and complete the prerequisite courses to pursue admittance to our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. In addition to taking general education courses, you’ll study anatomy, physiology, biology, physics, and chemistry. You’ll also focus on topics in healthcare administration, healthcare law and ethics, health science research, health economics, and health science leadership. If you choose not to pursue a DPT program, you may choose to pursue a variety of health profession opportunities.

Doctor of Physical Therapy

The Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at South College was the first in the country to be offered through a 2-year blended-learning model, presenting a flexible semi-online alternative for students who want to enter the physical therapy profession. The unique curriculum, clinical education program, and post-professional residency collaborations are specifically designed to reduce the cost of DPT education and fast-track your future career in physical therapy.

With an evidence-based curriculum, quarterly onsite lab immersion sessions to develop essential hands-on patient management skills, and opportunities for clinical education experiences nationwide, the DPT program allows you to customize your studies to fit in with your professional career.

This program consists of 65 weeks of taught courses across 5+ academic quarters, as well as 31 weeks of full-time clinical education in a variety of settings, including an 8-week experiential portion and a 23-week terminal clinical experience.
